Position Announcement: Passport Editor
The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR) seeks to appoint a new editor for Passport: The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations Review. This position will officially begin on September 1, 2024, with a 4-month transition period to follow, during which time the person appointed will work alongside the current editor until January 1, 2025. The term of appointment is five years with the possibility of renewal, and a stipend is provided as compensation. The editor is responsible for producing three issues of Passport each year (January, April, and September). In addition, the editor serves as an ex officio member of the SHAFR Teaching Committee and of the SHAFR Development Committee; reports annually each June to Council on the state of Passport; solicits content for each issue, including (but not limited to) roundtable reviews, pedagogical articles, and research notes; works with SHAFR's Executive Director, Nominating Committee, and President to keep the membership informed about conference CFPs, the annual election ballot, and other pertinent SHAFR-related information; supervises the production and editing staff; works with the editorial advisory board to address any problems or concerns related to Passport; and works with the Oxford University Press production team to bring each issue to publication.
Candidates should be SHAFR members, with a demonstrated commitment to the organization and the field.
