NARA Notice 2025-045: President of the U.S. Dismisses Dr. Colleen J. Shogan

Attention supervisors: If you have employees who do not have access to a computer, please ensure that those employees receive a copy of this notice. This includes employees on LWOP or paid leave.
I have the obligation to inform you that the President of the United States has dismissed Dr. Colleen J. Shogan from her position as Archivist of the United States. In accordance with statute, I am temporarily assuming the role as Acting Archivist.
We will share more information with you as soon as possible.
In informing me of the President’s decision this evening, Dr. Shogan asked me to share that she has been honored to serve as the 11th Archivist of the United States, and proud to work with all of us to preserve, protect, and share the history of the United States.
I have been proud to serve under Dr. Shogan and I hope that each of you will join me in thanking her for her service to the agency and the nation. She will be deeply and truly missed.
